I would like to send out a big
to crookedneck without his help I would have been lost. Below are some pictures of my first fishing rod build. It takes alot longer than I would have thought to make one of these and I can't wait to latch on to a fish with a rod I built. Their is just something about using stuff you make that makes it that much better. Anyways the details about the rod is as follows:
length: 6'6"
Blank: St. Croix SCII lightweight with fast action
Grips: Osage Orange split grip custom turned by me with CA finish
Thread: Blue with silver accent for eyes and split grip space, Green with white for hook keeper
This rod will be used for river smallmouth and trout fishing. I am also making two more for gifts to my dad and uncle. My dads is going to have cocobolo grips, and uncles will have walnut grips.
We are planning a trip in about 3 weeks and hope to have them done by then to give to them. They don't know they are getting these rods yet.
