One I never finished

I think I started this about 3 years ago, and well you can see how far I got.  Didn't do the feathers for the wings right,  so I just kinda set it aside.

Miniature mallard? Not bad. I like to decorate the shop with lots of half-built things myself. What were you planning on doing by the eye area? Were you gonna  just paint them in the recessed area? Also is it basswood, tupelo, other? ~Andre

I think if memory serves me, I was going to ask my taxidermist buddy for some itty bitty eyes and sink em in there.  I do remember it is basswood.  I never carved anything but.  Yea Mallard hen, which is waaaaaay harder to paint than the drake.  I may tackle it one of these days after I get moved. Sellin the house has put a crimp in my turning and just about everything else, but I am headin for the turkey woods this afternoon.  Opening day is tomorrow morning! I am going to put them to bed tonite. Kitch
