2 new short reeds
« on: March 26, 2012, 09:24:31 PM »
these two calls are the 1st I have used my own gutsert.  I turned down a piece of 1/2 PVC pipe to 11/16"OD  and filed out to a .619 bore to fit the  WEBfoot SR 11 guts into. Why you ask, I think it just looks better when you take a call apart and see wood instead of the  bought gutserts. Maybe it just me.   but I think that PVC will keep the tenon from cracking. What Do You Think?

Ron, A couple of good looking calls and your finish looks good as well.  I too like to see a wood tennon on my wood calls.  There are many different ways to reinforce the tennon and your way is pretty cool.  Good thinking.

I think the plastic insert will give too much and the tennon will eventualy crack. JUST MY 2 PENNIES.
