Depth from playing surface ledge to beginning of bottom is 5/16.

Sorry, i missed read the distance from soundboard to playing surface.  I will adjust to 1/16 on the next one.

You still have to shrink the diameter of that pedestal.

Make the I/D of your pedistal 7/8" or 1".  Keep it the same thickness.

:D  I see now you've been told that a couple times.  Whoops.  :D

I agree 100% with these guys on the pedestal diameter. Make your pedestal 1" ID with 1/8" thick walls. Shoot for a max of 1 1/4" OD on your pedestal. Anything bigger and the call will be dead. I find it a little harder to get good rasp out of slate vs. aluminum or glass so on your slate calls you could even step it down to as little as 3/4" ID. Just my  :2:

:D  Go make us another pot!  :D

And seriously though.....drop the glass soundboard in this time, and center it where you would glue it.  Take the photo to where we can see the spacing around the soundboard from above (watch so the glass doesn't flash back at the cam), AND another photo see where it sits in comparison to where it gets up towards the striking surface.

I will let you all know in about 2 hours when my goop sets on my latest pot with the adjustments made form this thread.  I can't wait to hear what it sounds like.  Then i can start focusing on design instead of sound.

I just tested my newly created call and after 30 minutes playing with multiple strikers, i think i all your help has allowed me to make a call that actually sounds like a turkey.  Now it has to pass my friends calling test, once it does, WATCH OUT!

 :thanks:  :thanks:  :thanks:

Another thread with great specifics. Bump and a move to the tutorials. Thanks to JTC for working so specifically on his experimenting, and Larry for helping with his specific thoughts.
