The aluminum whistle, finished
« on: March 09, 2012, 12:14:07 AM »
Some time ago I turned this whistle from aluminum and then media blasted it.  Did a little trading with Gouldman...Made him a wooden whistle and he was kind enough to anodize my aluminum whistle black for me.  Got it back from him recently and was just tickled with how nice a job he did.  Took it to the laser engraver once I got it back from Ron.  It has a polished black acrylic toneboard.

Yes I know it is completely stupid to make an aluminum whistle but it was fun.  I fully intend to hunt with it on the coldest day next season, and I promise you guys I will get it stuck to my lips and take a picture.

That is beautiful! The engraving really sets that call off.

I have 2 aluminum predator calls around here & see nothing stupid about them at all. They are a bi higher pitched than then wood calls with the same reed & really cut thru the air. I think that is a sweet looking call all blacked out like that.

I really like it, but April Headhunter won't since it doesn't have any sap wood. Neat thinking and nice job.

It's designed to make sounds to call birds you hunt for in what are usually cold conditions, and it metal. While I don't think it stupid either, as a call material, blowing it in freezing temps is a brave/unwise move indeed, unless one is doing it for our entertainment.  KC, I applaud your ability, cause that whistle is nice, and I appreciate you willingness to let us laugh at the pictures from one of ur freezing hunt.

They will be seen.
They will be called.
They will come in.
They will fly away laughing.....

Well nothing stupid about that call!! It is an awesome idea and definitely thinking outside the box! Great call, i don't think it will stick to you and if it does what a good story it will make! Timeless call and heirloom quality!

Ive been waiting to see this one.  Looks nice.  I like the blackout on the aluminum.  Very sharp looking!
