Product Reveiw Time!
« on: February 29, 2012, 04:14:18 PM »
Recently made a few buys and got a chance to try them out. I was very happy with the results.

Carbide Easy Turn Chisels How have I lived without them is beyond me they work Great and worth twice the price!
These are the so called Mini's rougher and the finisher.  :2up:

Motor went after about 12 years in my large dust collector and my small one wasn't cutting it so I ran out and found this Rikon and I'm really liking it. A little bit louder than my old one but much more suck!  :2up:

Broke down and bought the two pen wood burner from Colwood. Comes with a case and 5 tips. I haven't got to really do some burning but the little I have used it it totally rocks so I know it's a winner already!  :2up:

Good scores Larry!  Man I'm with you on the Easy Wood Tools.  The mini rougher (the square one) gets used on just about every call I make.  It is perfect for making square cuts, band tenons, pedestals, etc.   A word of advice based on personal experience:  When you take the carbide inserts off the tool to sharpen them, don't do it near your sawdust pile or in a messy area.  That little tiny screw is mighty hard to locate on a messy floor.  Oh, and watch those carbide tools on your bench.  The carbide is delicate when you bump it into a hard piece of metal like a chuck or mandrel laying on the same bench.   :whistling:

:D  I put the screw BACK in the tool by a turn and a half while I am sharpening the heads too!

Nice purchases. Congrats.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous, especially of the wood burner.

Have you used the easy wood tool on hollowing and for pedestal on a pot call. Just wondering how well it works. I use a parting tool and seem to resharpen a lot.

Just wait til you turn some acrylic with the carbide.

How much better do these cut acrylic verses a scraper and a spindle gouge? I have got to find something better than those 2 for turning acrylic

I'm jealous of that burner also.  I've used a detailer before and it was a very nice unit.  Two handpieces is just spoiling yourself!
