Nominations for the maker of the traveling turkey call(s)
« on: February 24, 2012, 09:39:50 PM »
Anyone interested in participating in a traveling turkey call this spring season?  The way a lot of us see it, the guy who gets to make it is a pretty lucky guy, so the purpose of that thread is to solicit nominations for the maker.  I think it is most appropriate for the THO "family" to democratically choose the peer which will receive this honor.  If you'd like to make the call, opt in by nominating yourself.  If you'd like to nominate someone else, post it here and if they're willing to accept the nomination (and if they're a turkey call maker) that's great too.  Nominations will remain open until 11:59pm next Friday night.

After we've got nominations and volunteers, we'll put it to a vote of the members in a separate poll thread.  You do not have to be participating in the traveling call rotation to vote, so all THO members are encouraged to participate.  The call will go back to the maker or elsewhere at the maker's discretion.  If there is enough interest, we may even designate 2nd and 3rd place as regional traveling calls to ensure that everyone that wants to hunt the call will have the opportunity.

Any type of turkey call is great.  Pots, boxes, scratch boxes, anything goes.  Just like the traveling duck call, all participants will sign the call after hunting with it, then mail it to the next guy ASAP.

Still waiting for a couple of the mods to weigh in on their stances, but I will decline any nominations for myself, as will Parker.  We really want this to be about the folks that make THO tick as well as the folks that are keeping this craft alive, and that is you guys.
So get started thinking about the callmaker that has helped you out, inspired you, befriended you, posts calls that you like, etc!

I would love to put one of my turkey pots up for circulation. I also think that with the turkey seasons being as short as they are we need to have a couple of calls traveling.

There are so many on here who make beautiful calls but the one who always makes me drool is fargord. I don't know the gentleman or if he would be interested but he is my nomination.

You saying the only way i can hunt with your call KC is to buy one now!  :) I'll throw my name in for that 2nd and 3rd regional group if the interest is there. Can't wait! I was kicking myself for not getting in on that traveling duck call last season!

What about Gouldman?  I remember him playing a call at the turn-a-thon last year and it was spot on.

I appreciate the nomination....would be glad to help in anyway I could. I would second all nominees so far.  So many good people, how would a person choose?  Season will be here before you know it. :hunter1:

I believe the mods should be included in on this too!! You guys help as much or more than the rest.....that's why you are mods. My vote would be for Kc, Prarie, Parker, Aprilheadhunter,Swampgobbler, Jthomas, and flydowntn. Hard to pick from just one or two!!
