I'm jealous of your long weekend in the shop.  I like the array of different woods and that you pinned the bands.  I really don't have any criticism to pass along.  What glossy finish did you use?

My only criticism is , stop making calls so fast, you make me feel like a slow poke. Great looking calls.

Theyre all CA finished. Gotta make hay while the sun shines right? I am pinning all of my bands but I havent figured out yet how to make the aluminum ones dissapear the way that I can make the brass ones.

Very nice.      It takes me 3 hours to get one right.  What's the wood and how'd u darken the one on the far right?

To make the pins disappear go to a welding shop and get a 1/16 welding rod to match the material that the band is made from, aluminum for aluminum, brass for brass, etc.
Drill a hole in the band to match the diameter of your rod. I then use a taper pin reamer to create a little taper in the hole in the band. Peen the rod end down gently into the tapered hole. By gently I mean a death of a thousand taps! File and sand to match the surface contour of the band and finish polish. Repeat for other pins.
Note:The pin will peen better/easier if you file the end square before you start. You only need a pin diameter or less sticking above the band when you start.

I think there's a certain artistry in being able to see the end of a neatly installed pin.  If it is tight, gap-free and smooth it is nothing to hide in my opinion.  I'd be willing to bet the average duck call buyer doesn't even know pins are used.  I like to use copper rod for pins on brass bands for that very reason.  Your pinning work looks great from what I can see.

Your finishes are looking great as well.

I'd kill for an entire weekend in my shop.  Heck I'd be tickled to get an hour in there every day.

Thanks for the comments and learning points. The end calls are both torched to give that appearance.
