canvasback headed north!
« on: February 08, 2012, 01:39:42 AM »
A friend of mine hosts a fishing tournament every year at his cabin in wisconsin.  They have a raffle and all the money goes to charity.
He asked if I could donate a decoy or call this year.  He really wanted something handmade and unique.
So I sent both.  They only have 30-50 people in the tounament each year, but I hope he sells a bunch of tickets.
I had to clean the mud off of it with a potato brush, and left it in vintage condition (fancy word for "used") :hysterical:
Basswood and jansens acrylic.

Thanks fellas!  The feather work leaves a lot to be desired.   I was trying new layouts and a lot of the feathers were carved rough and some backwards.  Oops.   I was happy with the head.   The guy that runs the Frozen Hole Fishin' tournament is an old hunting bud and all proceeds go to great local causes.  This year they were buying a new wheelchair for a marine brother of his.  I had another friend going up this year so I had to send something.
The call is NOT a canvasback call.  Just a regular old mallard call.  They were two different raffles.

Yep, tha ol' (sl)hedge hammer is never far from reach...like a redneckity Thor.
