Pics of the traveling call
« on: February 05, 2012, 03:01:51 PM »
Here's pictures of the traveling call.  The old girl shows a season's worth of wear...She's been rode hard and put away wet.  We had planned to CA finish her at the turn-a-thon, but a lot of us felt that cleaning up all the names so they look new and putting a shiny finish would destroy the character, which is part of the story of a traveling call.  I hope that most/all of the participants in this year's traveling call concur with that decision.  A lot of the names are faded, but all are legible.

The journal is incuded in the pictures.  It has numerous mallard tail curl feathers in it, taped in there by a number of the guys along the way.  The journal is great, as it shows a lot of peoples' passion for waterfowling and it is a great example of the friendship and brotherhood that so many of us have forged on this site.  Some folks really wrote a lot...Multiple pages.

She's on her way to you Al.  Display her with pride and the knowledge that there are a ton of callmakers that appreciate the THO site more than we can possibly express.

Aaron

(at the turn-a-thon I asked Bob "Bassnfool" Espy to turn a display stand for the traveling call, and he did a nice one)

Being a part of this was the highlight of my year.  I can't think of two better people to have this call start with (Crawdad) and finish with (Al).  Thanks for letting me be apart of this and thanks to everyone involved.  This went a lot smoother than I ever imagined.  When I saw how many people were going to be involved I had my doubts, but it just goes to show the character and dedication of all of y'all.

Vegetarian - that's an old Indian word meaning "lousy hunter”

Getting to hunt with that call was the highlight of my duck season. I hope we do something like that again this coming season. Thanks for letting me be a part in this.

I had a great time with the ole Girl! It was a special time spent with friends and family at Thanksgiving, and she called a few Greenheads in for us, and we said "Thank you Crawdad!"
And thank you Aaron, Bob, Al, and everybody along the way for taking such good care of her on her journey!  Harold Kitchen

Glad to see the brotherhood of involvement and the awesome journey it made.  If this becomes a tradition, I would love to see the traveling call make it down to the marshes of south texas next year!  :duck:

I wanted to jump in for this one but I knew I wouldn't have time.  After seeing it at the turnathon it made me wish I had made time.
I will definately be in next time!
