I'm a whistle makin' fool
« on: January 26, 2012, 12:54:00 AM »
Been pretty busy with duck whistles.  The first two are for a guide in Arkansas.  He ordered four, but asked me to ship the first two as soon as they were done so he'd have them for the last weekend of the season.  They're both stabilized spalted maple.

These are for a DU employee.  He ordered eight whistles.  One for him and seven for his buddies for next Christmas.  All but the one standing up are cocobolo, and the standing one is stabilized spalted maple.

And these two went out last week.  Cocobolo with sapwood (like that Aprilheadhunter?), and Arizona desert ironwood, also with sapwood.

I have a few more to make, but after two more I get to take a break from whistles and make a couple turkey calls.

Those are beautiful as usual.

How are you sealing the inside

I usually use stabilized wood and there's no need to seal it.  Otherwise I'm using tung oil, BLO, CA, etc.
