We have had some awesome success with my Vector custom deer grunt calls these last 5 seasons, but this story beats all for me.
I've got a fellow that contacted me a year ago to let me know he would be moving an hour from me with a new job he was taking. He had gotten a deer game call from me about 3 years ago. He said we would need to get together at some point to shoot the bull. We got to meet eachother once before at a outdoors show for a minute. We were able to get together this fall for dinner, and he told me then how much he liked his calls from me, and that he wore his Vector hat with pride.
He called me last night to let me know he had called in a great buck with his Vector grunter, but in the excitement of having his biggest deer ever 30 yards away from him, he had hit the deer too far back.
Well, I have been training a blood tracking dog (lab named Goose) this fall, and the hunter was hoping I (and Goose) would be available to help him look for the deer. He knew it was a bad hit, and could not find any blood in the location where he had shot the buck.
Well, Goose and I showed up this morning to frosty grass and a lot of excitement in the air.
We followed Goose through the woods, down a dried up creek, and then after a while, back up the other side. Once we got up the other side, I found some spots of blood, and marked them so we could return to the spot if need be. NO NEED! Goose took us RIGHT to the buck, nothing flat!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!
The hunter was WOUND UP, and so was I! This tracking stuff is unreal.
It is his biggest deer kill by far. He just kept saying, "I can't believe this is my deer. Thank you so much for being here with me."
What a fun time. Full circle man.

Here's a couple pictures of the hunter with his prize. (It was funny, the hunter wore his grunter around his neck, and got it out for the pictures. I was so happy about Goose finding the deer, I wasn't even thinking about the call bringing him in!)
