Haven't posted any calls in a while. Been busy making them though.
This one was made for a local guy as a Christmas present for his dad, who thinks he's getting a Wal Mart gift card for Christmas. I'm currently finishing up a claro walnut goose call to go with it. This duck call is of course osage orange. He didn't want it engraved because he thought that hand writing the message for his dad on the call was more personal. Glad Aprilheadhunter showed me that trick because I've got a lot of mileage out of it.
This one was ordered by another local guy who had seen some of my calls. He also ordered a matching whistle, which isn't in the picture. It is black acrylic with stabilized crosscut spalted maple, and one of Ron's bands engraved by my local engraver. Set it up as a double reed. Steve at reelseatblanks.com kindly worked with me to find a whistle blank that matched the duck call barrel blank. The customer was thrilled about his new calls.
Spalted yellow birch burl, stabilized from reelseatblanks.com. This one went to a local guy I'm friends with, an Air Force vet, on veterans day during a duck hunt.
This is a stabilized crosscut spalted maple whistle ordered by a guy that found my website. Turns out he works in marketing for Midway USA. They sell upwards of 700 different calls so I was pretty honored that he ordered a custom one from me.
These two were made with two days' notice for a friend, who works for UBS Financial, generally as a low-level whipping boy. He's resourceful though, and managed to get himself hooked up on a duck hunt at a very exclusive private club near St. Louis with the CEO of the company and another of their top execs. Considering they have about 15,000 employees, that's a big deal, so he wanted to take them each a whistle as a gesture of thanks and general butt kissing. Wise move if you ask me. The whistles were a hit. Two days later I got a call from a guy that had seen them because one of my friend's UBS guys had shown them off. He's a Ducks Unlimited employee and just loved them. Yesterday he placed and order for eight of them. That was pretty darn exciting.
These two are cocobolo and stabilized black/tan big leaf maple burl from Steve.
