A couple duck flarin' whistles (pics added)
« on: October 10, 2011, 12:23:59 AM »
These are the "loudest" whistles I've made...They sound great but their loud appearance might just flare some ducks!  The first is orange pearl acrylic and the second is 6061 aluminum.  Going to media blast the aluminum one and have it anodized black (if I can find someone that'll anodize it for me)...I think it would look cool with the matte black look.

The orange one will go to my uncle in Colorado and I'll probably keep the aluminum one.  We'll see if I can stick my lips to it this season.

I had my engraver do a little laser work on the orange one for me...Pretty tickled with how it came out.  The guy is awesome!  Now I'm going to want to get them all engraved.  I had him do the lettering very small so it doesn't jump out at you.  On future ones I will be having him put my website address on there.

Aaron

KC I'm gonna have to start calling you the "Whistle King" :pot: You make a clean mean look'in call. I don't know... a chrome job on that call would be neat, but it would be like hunting with a mirror :hysterical: Be creative, there is so much you can try though :2: ~Andre

:pot:  If you don't stick your lips, then you're not hunting the right part of the season.

Sweet looking whistles!!  Did you consider asking Ron Gould to anodize it? I know he does the bands and maybe he's set up so he could do that whistle..

Purdy cool. I like that Orange.

I use an aluminum predator call in the Winter here in Ohio. There has never been a threat of getting stuck to it. Keep it inside your top coat as much as possible.  :up1:

Thanks all!  I haven't permanently installed the toneboard in the aluminum one.  Figured I'd better beadblast and/or anodize it first.  I do plan on getting some 1/2" aluminum rod and JB Welding it in there.
