Hey a big Thanks to everyone,
Although the woodburnt pintails were nice, the best part of this call was on the inside. Knowing that after many many weekends and evenings of making firewood of more inserts than I care to count, I'm starting (I repeat) starting to get an understanding of some of the inner workings of a duck call that not only sounds good to myself but to some (what I would call outstanding call makers)
If not for the friends I've made on a few forums like here, who knows how long or even if I would have continued. Thanks to all that have and continue to share their insight.
We live in a "I want it now" world unfortunately which I've found doesn't always work when applied to call making. I say be patient with your progress, like with anything... some will find what their after well before others. (Me being one of the others) And dont be detoured by those that dont care for your sound/design because one things for certain you wont make something that pleases everyone that's a fact. Your ideas of what your after will evolve the more you begin to understand the inner workings of your calls. Again be patient.
Rest assured, if you get on this path of building your own game calls no matter what type, the sound your after is like a carrot dangling in front of a rabbit you'll chase it from one call to another. I've made several friends (some of which I wouldn't know if we met on the street) making calls, and others that will be life long friends. Thanks again for everyones insight. Still chasing.....Ron Gould
