Alrighty, basically finished, just a couple more coats of tru-oil and a little work on the band area. I took a mighty risk by putting brass pins (my 3rd attempt), but thank God they all came out almost unnoticeable (in person at least :innocent:). Thanks again guys so much! A dear carving friend of mine suggested that I should rub in some black shoe polish to give the call a little more definition and so that people can see and appreciate the details... what do ya'll think of that idea? Thanks again everyone! Without this forum and her members I would never have gotten to this call even in the long run and trial and error! I'm feel in debt to many here. :thanks: ~TheDecoyDude

Nice work.....
Of all the things I've lost while call making...its my mind I miss the most.

I don't know how to delete the extras I accidentally made below... could a MOD please do that and then get rid of this message? ~Andre

Here is the completed call and I gotta say, for one who hates to brag, this call sounds SWEET! :punk: It is ABW with a hint of gold paint in the rigs and a little actually rubbed into the grain which looks really cool in person. I still have a little work to do concerning the finish, but I'm pretty happy. ~Andre

Here is the completed call and I gotta say, for one who hates to brag, this call sounds SWEET! :punk: It has this rasp that I just can't describe... and it almost feels like it's caused by the barrel somehow  I will have to take measurements because it would appear I did something right for once :hysterical: The insert is ABW with a hint of gold paint in the rigs and a little actually rubbed into the grain which looks really cool in person. I still have a little work to do concerning the finish, but I'm pretty happy. I tried about 3 designs and none of them even compared to this one. A shape simple like this is soooo much faster than my more "complex" regular design ~Andre

That's one to keep forever.  Find a display box and put that one on the top shelf where it belongs.  Great job.

Thank you so much everyone! This call was a big leap for me. I still gotta hand it to KC, he pushed me to try a carved call (I had my doubts) but it all ended up coming together nicely and better than I could have imagined. ~Andre
