My wife has done EXTENSIVE testing on the gorilla glue and the heat. I help too of course. I broke the handle off one of her BRAND NEW coffee cups about 6 months ago in the shop. Well, I quick in a hurry glued it back on with gorilla glue and set it in the sink. Well, it goes through the dishwasher everyday, sometimes twice and have had no problems.
The handle has to be set INTO the wood for strength I believe and you cut it in so the glue hs bare wood to grab instead of finish. Takes about a couple minutes to cut it out with a dremel tool.
OH and the tool I made is just like the one in this picture only I used a 12 inch long, 1/2 wide Craftsman Flat tip screwdriver to make it from. Does a great job nibbling the end grain away and the shape lets you smooth the sides nice and easy like with a scraper.
This picture os of the top side of the chisel
This is of the bottom.
The one in these pictures is from a 1/4 wide screwdriver. The new one gives a longer handle and sturdier shaft. This one is a bit worn down now, the tip USED to be longer and the side(left when working) was longer.
OH, by the way Glen, The box got here today, beautiful is all I can say. I will make sure tht Calvin gets it. I got a box coming for you too. THANKYOU SO MUCH ;D
