"Womp'em Sticks"?
« on: June 19, 2011, 10:00:59 PM »
Has anyone ever seen or used these?

I'm trying to make a couple of these, but can't decide what kind of wood I should use for the "cooking" part.  I found out that poplar is definitely not the way to go, because of the way that it sands, I cannot get it smooth.  What would you folks suggest for a good, cheap hardwood that will finish really smooth and be durable?  Also, do you think I should finish this piece off at all or leave it natural?  On the website they're left natural; unfinished.  Thanks for any suggestions!
