A special Call
« on: June 21, 2011, 07:42:10 PM »
This call was built for a good fella in Tennesee and while it started out to be a straightforward woodburn, it obviously didn't end up that way.  The lid is Ipe with douglas fir inlays, the box is douglas fir with walnut, curly maple and cocobolo as built up end blocks and all set on a matching Ipe base.  I did the turkey scene as a pure wood burn, but when I got done it didn't read well so after starring at the dang thing for 2 hours I decided to give it a little paint and here ya go.  The other side reflects his love of duck hunting and his special hunting dog, a golden retreiver.  As far as sound goes, well this may be one of the best I have built...I wasn't sure about the doug fir at first, but everything about it said it 'should' work--awesome straight grain, clear and when matched with the Ipe... well there are a mess of turkeys just-a-jumping to get out.  Thanks for looking--Scott
