I made this hooter for Aaron as part of a trade.  :whistling: :whistling:

The call is walnut and the tone board is oak.
The solder band is covering the tone chamber seam.  I didn't like the look of a plug in the end of the call so the tone chamber is two pieces.  The exhaust is 1/4" and the entrance is 1/2" but the sound chamber is 3/4".

I'll post a picture of the exhaust end of the call but I'm waiting on my photographer to get me one.

Trade?  Noooooo, you sent me a call out of the blue.  Ok, ok, in appreciation for some osage I sent you a while back.  Whatever....It was a surprise and a pleasant one at that!

When I pulled the insert out I fully expected to see plastic kit guts.  I was really amazed that Paul is making his own toneboard and wedge for these.  Really cool, and you can tell that quite a bit of work went into it.  It sounds more like an owl than I've ever been able to get a store-bought call to sound like.  That was a great surprise as well.

Thanks again Paul!

You wouldn't let me trade money and your the one that put the return address on the box.

If I could have figured out how to make owl sounds with the plastic guts your call probably would have had them.
I've spent hours driving the wife nuts trying to make owl sounds with them.  It took way less time to get owl like sounds from my own tone board.
If I hadn't gone to the "turn-fest" and watched Jason make his tone board I would still be messing with the plastic guts.  We have some very good picture tutorials here but they make way more since after you watch somebody else mess with one.

My photographer finally got the film developed.

This picture shows my favorite part, the end.  I really don't like the looks of the plug in the end.

Very cool stuff man.  I'm looking forward to you teaching me how to run one of these kinds of callers the next time we get together!

Absolutely, if folks are interested.  Otherwise Crawdad, it'll just be you and me bud.  I kind of figured that Martin Luther King day would be a good weekend to do it again.
