Like you said Al....we all learn something here.....the tutorial was excellent. I have always cut a groove on my tenon, but it never crossed my wandering mind to cut a groove inside the band..........great tip. I need a new digital caliper...where did you get yours?
-
Al, again, another excellent tutorial. Instead of running a grove around the inside of my bands, I do a cross hatch.
HH, I have bought several of the digital calipers at Harbor Freight. They are inexpensive and seem to work just fine.

I got mine at Woodcraft, and it looks exactly like the one at Harbor freight. I don't know what I would do without it sometimes.
Great tool for the money

Braz explain your cross hatch method...........thanks for the caliper info....i have a Harbour Freight pretty close by.

Since I want to be sure that the glue in the grove of both the body and ring have a place where they overlap, that is why I use the cross hatch method. Here is a picture of it.
