WOW, your calls never cease to amaze me B. What lpi and finish is that on the AB call? Again, very nice work.
-
Nice work!
If you dont mind me asking. Why did you use the acrylic for the toneboard instead of all ABW? Just wandering is all.

18 lpi all the way around. The upward pointing panels are a bit more narrow, and it makes the panel look like it is checkered with a different tool, but it isn't. The finish is an oil finish - Velvit oil to be exact.
If you dont mind me asking. Why did you use the acrylic for the toneboard instead of all ABW? Just wandering is all.
2 reasons really - right now, I enjoy tuning an acrylic toneboard better than wood. And I had a small piece of cuttoff ABW left from the barrel, so this is where it ended up. The acrylic toneboards require less maintenance and hold their tuning better, no matter the humidity, temperature, etc.

You're duck calls are just flat out ridonkulous! I have never seen a duck call that looked like it was worth $1,000, but everyone you turn out is just silly incredible. In the words of Will Ferrel your calls are "scrumtrulescent". If I weren't married I would buy a house close to yours just so I could come over and learn from you (assuming you'd teach me of course.)
Anyway, :2up:

Freakin bautiful B!
How do you like the Velvit Oil?
-
Mark, I really like it! It's not cheap though, and Wes says that it's got about a 1 year shelf life once you open the can.
