Here you go gang!  My very first cow elk call. ;D :D

It actually sounds like a cow elk, at least to me.......

First time I have ever made anything other than a goose call.
Kinda Fun! 8)

Nice looking call Doug. I like the backdrop you used also. Looks nice.

I'd like to give one a try someday but the only place in N.Y. I could use it would be at the local ELK's club and all they ever do is play bingo.  ;D

You guys are talking about the tubing, but I'm lost. On this good looking call that Doug made, where would the tubing go???  Did I say that is a good looking call  Doug? It sure is. ;D

It would go over the black part of the call.  It keeps you from pinching your tongue in the call, and I've found it helps project the air down the reed just a tad.

callsbygoose sent me after some surgical tubing to try out on it, but I have not ordered any yet.  I've got a bunch of orders for various supplies to put together in these next couple days, so I'll probably get some ordered then.  I was hoping he'd get ahold of some before I did to tell me if it worked good for him.   :D  I'm 99.9 percent sure he's on the perfect track, and has the right stuff.   8)

Some folks may prefer to not have the tubing on it.  I personally like it on mine.

Well, I've got gooseforsupper.  When I make duck calls they will be duckfordinner.  I don't have any idea what to call my elk calls..... 8)

I'll try to pick up some tubing locally and see if it makes a difference in the sound.  I do wonder about how easy it will be to clean crud out of the call once I get the tubing on....

In the meantime I'm headed to the shop to make another, I'll post a picture when it's done.

Now I kinda understand. I do a similar thing on the crow calls, but I use black electrical tape. It is easy to take off if you want to remove the toneboard for adjustment to the sound. And it is real easy to replace, since we all have that around the house.

Well.......I'll tell you this much.....The only time I get elk steaks is when I visit my uncle that goes out every year.  I get elk steaks, eggs and blueberry pancakes for breakfast.  (As you can imagine, he IS my favorite uncle!)  So.....I say elkforbreakfast may be fitting.   ;D
