Title: Duck call molds

any body know were i could get a poly carb mold for duck calls or were or who does it.

There are a few places that will make molded copies of your own insert that you send them.  I haven't explored that avenue, but typically, molds aren't cheap.  Are you wanting just the mold made, or do you want them to mold copies of your insert and send them to you?

i have one that i made that would be perfect for it. im looking at being able to offer wood and poly carb calls. mabey have a mold made but i dont know how to pour the stuff or any clues on how much a call would cost to be produced if i didnt have a mold.

Get hold of Loren, he can make the mold and mold the pieces for you.

Have you looked into making your own molds?  Alumilite has some really good tutorials on that subject.

Trust me Brian, those tutorials will only let you spend money, lots of money, and a lot more money.  Cheaper to get it done than do it yourself.  I have the bills to prove it and still trying it.

okay i sent him a email, looking forward to hearing back from him, just kinda one of those ideas we had while making calls one night, and after a few cocktails. but after thinking about it i figured it wasnt a bad idea to look into. those molds are kinda cool im looking at the web site right now.

well we will see if he responds to the email, what is his user name in here do you guys know, plus have any of you every used his services for makeing molds or calls?

well i talked to him and just deciding on what call to send to him, is there any body else out there that you guys can think of who does it also, just trying to get a price comp.

Having an idea of the cost of the materials and the mold cost I will venture that anything around $8 would be a good price.  That is a per piece price, or about $16 for complete call of the barrel and insert.  If I was to mold them for someone else they had better have a fat wallet and want a skinny wallet, I would be close to $20 per piece, maybe more.

see and the guy i found wants any were from 6-8 bucks apiece for colored complete, but 12-14 for clear

The clear are almost impossible to get all of the air bubbles out of, personally I would not make them clear or translucent, opaque in colors is the easiest way to make them.
