Here's a few of my newbie pots...
Cocobolo with slate over glass

Same one. I love this wood, wish I had a truckload!

Here's one of my first. It is laminated zebrawood. The face grain matches pretty well and the end grain zig-zags. This is actually the best sounding call I've made. It is slate over glass.

This one's bubinga with a lamination of padauk in the middle. It is glass over padauk. I roughed up the glass too much and made it ugly but it sounds good.

Here's a curly maple one. Aluminum surface over a maple soundboard.

Another earlier one...Copper over padauk in a cocobolo pot. Very raspy but kinda sweet. The flash makes it look like the holes aren't finished but they are.

This one's white oak with some really cool squiggly grain. It isn't done yet but will be glass over glass.

Being new at this I'd sure appreciate any critique you guys can offer. I'm not selling them, just making them for friends. You never know, I might eventually sell, but I have to get my confidence up first. They're sounding good to me and a few friends that have used them but I'm no pro turkey caller by any means! Thanks, Aaron

They look good to me,Nice work!I love coco too,but it about kills me to work with it,especially during the summer...

 GREAT looking calls, looks like the new is wearing off your call making real fast, by the time you become a seasoned call maker, they should be GREAT GREATER.  Really like the coca.

Thanks for the kind words fellas.
Question...
I've really been fighting with signing my calls. I use Mylands friction polish on most of them, especially the oily exotics like cocobolo. I quickly learned that no matter what permanent pen I use, it is quickly blurred/smeared/erased by the application of friction polish. Writing over the polish isn't a good option as I see it. So, I've been signing my calls on the face in 1/8" letters ringing the outer edge of the calling surface. One guy told me I shouldn't do that because some people use the outer 1/8" of the surface (I guess I don't).
So I'm back to square one! If I sign a wood pot with a sharpie or whatever on the bare wood...Especially on the oily woods...What can I apply over it that won't booger the ink up???

Here is my own opinion...I would get away from using a friction polish(unless you aren't going to be hunting with it),it won't last long...I like using poly, you may try the kind in a spray can to keep from smearing the ink...I really haven't used a marker or pen on my calls,I've always used a Razortip woodburning pen with a ball point tip...Writing on the surface isn't a good thing either...Most of my calls play the best on the outside edge...I'm sure some other people will have a lot better ideas than me..Good luck!

Those calls look great.

I promise I am! Even if my woodworking doesn't give me away my calling does for sure. :down1:
