Title: Tapered exhaust
Post by: Emery Plumley on January 16, 2018, 10:30:37 PM
I have been asked to make a amp horn for diaphragm call. The issue I am having is making the tapered hole. 1 inch inlet with a 2" outlet...any ideas?

Clarinet blank from Woodcraft. Drill the 1 inch hole first ,then mount the clarinet blank on a sacrificial base and turn the bell.

Make the entry 3/4” and put it on your deer call mandrel. Hold it on a 4 jaw chuck with pin jaws when you need to flip it.

Make sure you use a very sturdy material. The hunter will want this to be thin so it resonates well. Thin wood in a hunting situation is going to be very prone to getting crushed.

Tough task. This is why you often see horn used for this kind of job.
