Well had a snow day from work today as all the roads were closed. Figure why not make a worthless blank as I just got all the stuff in the mail last week. Stabilized a piece of spalted maple burl last night and today tried adding some alumilite and tossed it in the pressure pot. Turned out alright I think!

I cannot wait to see how this turns out

What are you using to cast it in? I'm looking to try it. I read the tutorial, and he used PVC pipe. I was wondering if there was a release agent used in order to remove it? Looks cool BTW!

Just saw this now! I made molds to cast in out of cutting board material.. First I stabilized the wood using a vacuum chamber then I Cast it in the pressure pot with the alumilite. There are some good youtube vids on how to do this actually! I never had to use a release agent. This blank anded up gettin glued to my mandrel because I was an idiot haha so didnt work out so hott but learned a lesson and have made a couple calls since that turned out well!
