Title: Volume help
Post by: Turk_Calls on July 28, 2014, 08:17:34 AM
Hey guys I was hoping for a little help.  I have made two different crow calls (followed the tutorial pinned in this section).  The problem I have encountered with both of them is the volume.  I have a set of plastic guts that are very loud and both of the calls I have made just don't seen to produce as much volume.  Both sets are made from hard maple as well.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  If it helps I can also post up some pics.

How hard is it to slide the guts into the barrel? On the ones I made I found that is a touchy area. Too tight just killed the volume for me. Also the dymanwoods/spectraply calls were soft & I don't know why. Hard Maple & Walnut sounded best.

They fit snug, it doesn't take much to remove the mouthpiece from the barrel

Did you seat them deep enough or too deep?  Pics might help.

Marvin, they are seated almost exactly in the middle, 1.5" on both sides, I'll get some pics posted up and if possible a YouTube link so you can hear the difference in volume.
