Here is a couple of ice fishing rods I did a few years ago. a pink myrtle burl with a 14 carrot gold winding check. I cant remember the other wood.

Very nice. I've got a buddy here in town that makes ice rods as well, completely custom, from thread color, to action, to length, to eyelet numbers to handles, etc.

Very nice!! The 2nd one almost looks like Marblewood but I'm not sure.

I looked up my old records, the other rod is Cocus Wood from the West Indies.

There are many places to buy fishing rod components but my favorite is Mud Hole rod building and tackle crafting out of Florida.

Are the reel seat good you used the same size as the ones that would be used on an open water type rod? I'm looking to build something similar but can't seem to find hoods specifically for ice fishing sized reels :wacko:
Edit: never mind, found the answer to my question. Don't know why I didn't think of it before, but I just took the reel off my ice rod and checked it on a standard spinning rid. Same size hoods
