Title: Waterbuffalo Horn Howler
Post by: lazyMlazyK on June 19, 2012, 10:31:55 PM
Here's a waterbuffalo horn howler I made up for one of my friends.  He's been a great supporter of mine and I'm proud to call him a friend.  I'd like to give a special thanks to HuntnCarve (Dave) for helping me along the way with improving my horn howlers; he's been a great resource and a very generous person.  Thanks for looking and comments/critiques welcome!

Looks Great!  The Paw print is a great touch!  I really like the way you did the paw print.

I wouldn't even know where to start on making one of these, but if I did my goal would be for it to come out looking like this.  Beautiful, just beautiful.  I too love the paw print.

Looks good Kyle!

On your toneboard you might try grinding/filing a groove for the O-ring to sit in just in front of where the reed slips into the notch. -Here I even notch the reed in the corresponding place, to lock it into place.  Two small dimples in the reed right after the O-ring will sometimes make a world of difference in how the call sounds.  The dimples lift the reed off the bridge.

Thanks for all the kind words!

I will give a try at putting a small dimple into the reed as soon as I get a chance to finish this toneboard to see how I like how it plays.  Thanks again for being so helpful Dave and for all the other generous folks here sharing their knowledge!
