Title: cow reeds??
Post by: Greg at PTDO Game Calls on April 28, 2012, 07:14:46 PM
I picked up some cow elk bite type reeds and I'm not sure of the best way to seat them. I don't have a tree jaw chuck to turn them down. I was thinking I could drill a hole the same diameter as the large end of the reed and put an o-ring on the bottom. But I don't know what size hole to drill to fit the top of the reed. Any input would be greatly appreciated. On this or the best way to get one to fit without a tapered drill bit. Thanks

Also, I've looked for tapered bits but I guess I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

It is a #2 taper.  "MT2" is how they're usually marked.

You can also try to work with an MT2 reamer, but I think your drill bit thought will be money better spent.

Thanks,
Any idea where I might find a drill bit? Everything I keep seeing is a mt2 shank.

I have not ever seen one, but I have not looked.  If you find one, I'm probably going to be interested.
