Title: A Rainbow of Colors
Post by: dogcatcher on October 11, 2008, 08:50:37 PM
Finished up a few deer grunt call this week.  All they need now is packaging and a new home.  These were all made from maple and then dyed, using our friends secret formula.   She is a professional woodturner, I refer to her as the "artsy" turner, but she know her woodturning inside and out.

They were sanded to 600 grit, then dyed and dipped in my poly mix.  Believe it or not that is just one more coat of wipe on poly.  These have not been buffed or waxed.  I may or may not do that to them before I package them.

Thanks for the comments.

Parker I am kind of partial to the kind of brown ones on top.  Those have been dipped twice, once in an awful orange and then in the color that is on the bottom far left.  When Jude dipped it in the orange I thought she was crazy, but she said watch this and hen into that light turquoise and out came the brown with orange tones in it.  Up close it reminds me of fall foliage.

My next choice is the deep maroon on the bottom right, those will sell pretty quick all we have to do is mention they look like Texas A&M maroon, those Aggies will buy anything if you can link it to Texas A&M.

Braz, this is only part of them, I think my son has already took about 12 of them.  He got to them before I was able to take my pictures.  We almost always work in groups of 6 or 12.  Easier and quicker than doing them one at a time.  Only problem is it gets boring if you do more than 12 at a time.
