Tutorial: Boxelder/acrylic for Braz and Parker

I drill the tonechannel last on my inserts...dont have a mandrel for them. Been thinking about getting one though. I havent really had any problems being too off center on the tone channel. Just gotta start real slow.

Wildfire, the boxelder is dyed and stabilized to make it look that way.

How do you account for the the material removed by the saw blade width?  If you fit the wood to it before you cut wouldn't that leave a gap inside the call?  Great tut by the way and maybe I'm just over thinking it.

That gap assures that the 2 pieces will slide all the way in when you glue it up.  I don't know anything about duck hunting but, I have made several deer grunts this way and the gap didn't cause any problems with the sound.  If you make the tennon to long just put it on the bandsaw and remove a little more so the pieces will fit together.  Unless someone smashes your call nobody will ever see the gap.

i just wanted to say thanks for the tutorial. like alot of people i had wondered how you did that. your calls are some of the best looking that i have seen.
