drilled boxelder blanks...




turned down to a tennon and test fit...




cut in half...




glued together with ca...



turn to shape



cut inlay groove



fit inlay



glue in inlay...



turn down and finish...






Insert the same way...

Hope you dont mind us copying it. I have one dyed blank that Im going to try out......... sometime. I have a little different way Im going to try the inlay but other than that your tutorial is what Im going to be going by. Thanks for sharing.

Great tutorial David.  I've often wondered how you handled the transitions between the box elder and the acrylic, and your method isn't what I had pictured....It is much more crafty than what I had imagined!

 :eek:  INSANE!  REALLY COOL!  I've seen one of your calls in person before, and I've seen the inside to know it is acrylic all the way through, but I never put enough thought into how it was done.  You've got my mind running WILD now!

I'm thinking an antler sleeve on a wood grunter!
