I started the craze for EVA foam for lip stops you can find it in any fishing rod builder's catalog will have it.  They use it for the handles of custom rods.

Yep Marvin is the EVA man.   
I will add my tip for drilling it though.  Get a oc of metal tubing for what ever size you want the bore to be.(smaller then your mouthpiece)

Take a counter sink or what ever cuts a taper and bring the edge razor sharp.  Now you have a hallow cutter that you can core out the hole.  Makes a super clean cut much better then anything I have tried. 

If you like spending money.  Go to update.  Its a lithographers supply company.  Look up paper drill bits and pick your size of the cheapest bit.  Your only cutting foam.

thanks guys...i have found the rod handles but all of the ones i have seen are 1" od with a 1/2" id hole in them....will that work?

Keep looking you should find 2 x 2 x ? think 12" with a prebore of 1/4" and 3/8".  The bore does not matter as you quarter them up on a table saw and you have 4 feet of 1 x 1ish.  Lots and lots of stoppers there.  I know mud tackle handles the blanks.
