Making Barrel Out Of Elk Antler; Need Opinions.....

I have a nice looking piece of Elk Antler coming that I am going to make a barrel out of.  How are most of you "Antler Pros" finishing them (sand & polish, sand, CA & polish etc.)

Also, what kind of insert would you suggest using (acrylic, wood etc. and what color)?

I have some great looking stainless and gold bands that AL made for me that I plan to use.  What would your color preference be?

If you have any pictures of ones that you have completed and want to post here, that will be great as well.

Thought I would show you a few of the elk antler calls I have posted in the past.  I really like using antler...elk, deer, moose.  I like the stainless bands with the white and dark antler but copper looks good also.  I used a couple of Al's bands...really look good.  I sand to 2000 gritand then buff with white rouge...no finish....just my way.  These have various guts in them but I have turned and used elk antler for my tone boards also...  Good luck.  Brad.

I like the stainless bands!! Sand with CA if any pith is showing to fill them then finish with CA and polish.

Not a call but i made this Steak Handler.. But i think the silver looks good with the antler.
