Cypress to swap for ????
« on: June 24, 2008, 08:18:38 PM »
I'm fixing to head to the saw mill in the next week or so. When I go, I can usually come across a fair bunch of cypress chunks that are usually be good for call blanks. I ws wondering if anyone might like to swap for some of your scraps of other wood or whatever??? Cypress is fairly common here so it's really not a big deal. Just let me know and I'll send you out some when I get it. It'll be somewhere from 1 1/2 to 2 inches x 12 or so inches long. Just depends on what's laying around and what I can rip it down to. You'll have to bore your own holes for whatever you're planning. That way, you can be sure it fits right too.
Once you get it, you can tale a look and try it out then decide what you would like to swap. If you never worked with cyress before, I'd say it is simular to cedar to work with.
Thanks,
Brian

I have some Ash(some spalted) and some Birds Eye blanks I'll swap with you. (1.5square  x 4)
I'll stabilize the cypress and see what it does.

Sure, what ever you thinnk is good. I'll get you a few pieces, maybe even a knee. I'll try to mke sure they are AT least 12 inches long and 1 1/2 at least. USUALLY, they are a foot long, give or take and about 2 inches. Drop me a PM with an address and I'll try and get it going this week. Hang on to your wood until you get the cypress. I want to make sure you get what you like of course and just in case I get side tracked again.  ;D

OK folks, the sawmill runs are done for a few weeks. The cypress I got is all spoken for as well. Next trip, I'll try to give some heads up if y'all want some. But right now, the cypress is gone. Thanks, Brian
