I have a Jet Mini Lathe with a #2 MT and 8 TPI.  I have a collet chuck system that I purchased from Penn State Industries about a year ago (http://www.pennstateind.com/store/LCDOWEL.html) and I really like it.  My issue is that the largest collet that comes with the kit is 3/4" and I need a 1".  Any suggestions?

The 3/4" is max for the ER32 size.  You could modify a 5C collet chuck, but it would cost a small fortune.  What are you needing the 1" size for, most likely there are a lot of solutions.  Just have to know your tools and how to use them.

Thanks Marvin for your reply.  I use 1" acrylic for turning my inserts.  Therefore I would like to be able to put it in a 1" collet chuck to turn instead of a regular chuck or with a steb center.  Thanks!

That would be a pretty high dollar item, I use the blind mandrel method.  All you need is a 1/4" steel rod, drill chuck and live center.  Guessing you have all except the steel rod your cost would be less than a dollar.  Just as accurate and probably faster than using a special collet system.

Thanks Marvin!  I will invest in the rod as I do have all of the other.
