Acrylic Wanted
« on: October 25, 2009, 07:41:53 PM »
I am looking for some Acrylic if anyone has some to spare. I would like some pearl colors preferable orange and also some ivory. I would be interested in other colors as well though, doesn't have to be pearl. I would be able to purchase 4 or 5 12" rods either 1 3/8" or 1 1/2"

Al is going to have some acrylic back in his supply store.  But the store website is being revamped to make it easier to purchase things.  Send a PM or email Al@THO and see if he has what you are looking for.

There might be others willing to sell you some acrylic sticks in that length.

Anyone have some acrylic that you would like to sell. I am looking for yellow, orange, black, and ivory. I just need enough to make two calls to try out the acrylic. I am thinking I will need to make two calls because the first will end up in the trash and hopefully the second will be usable. Thanks. Jeff

Yes we do but it is under my main business . We are goin to add the call making products and tools to it soon.  We sell outdoor and powersports products mostly. The calls are a hobby for me and my brother. He is in Tec school now for cnc programing.Thought it might be a good thing to do since we aready have the machines to turn and mill parts.

We are goin to make different  levels of call blanks like the one listed from just plain acrylic pieces to a finished call.
We can install bands on call kits
Match tone board designs
oring
Make a complete insert or call  to spec.
We are making a call band ring tool.  ( in progress now ) should be available next week
We have some really cool  designs for some new calls coming soon. Stuff that no one is doing yet should be alot of fun.

A couple of folks spent a few years and quite a bit of money in R&D to innovate and develop the original tool.  I don't think it is in good taste to copy their design, especially on a tool that is totally unique.   :down1:

Well, I have a problem with that attitude.   The forum is very open, and we encourage the sharing of information and items amongst each other.

However, we do have a process set up specifically for people who want to advertise products or services on the site.

We do not charge advertisers, but we do ask that you at least take the time to read the TOS and Advertising Info post at the top of the forum.

It's simply a matter of respect.

Now, WHY? do we have the advertising process set up the way we do?

Because between the moderators and administrative staff we have probably dealt with or know of most of the folks in the call making business.   Between the 6 of us, we know who is reliable and who is trustworthy.

Please keep in mind that this site belongs to the members, but we still have to ensure that each and every member has a good experience here.   If we let people advertise who we dont know, or who we do know are not reliable, then we are hurting the members who buy from them.  By not charging anyone to advertise, we are not beholding to anyone, and can remove someone who is not treating people right.  The advertising process is set up to protect the members of this site plain and simple.   It has nothing to do with the THO Game Calls Store, as we have at least two advertisers who directly compete with my store, showing products here.   I honestly do not think it is too much to ask someone to at least follow the process we have in place when we dont charge them a single dime to advertise on this site.

As for the ringer tool, I sent an e mail to Ed Glenn.   I had heard that there was a patent on the brass ringer.   If this is true, and someone duplicates it, we will not allow that person to advertise it or their web site if they sell it there, due to the legal implications.   If it is not patented, and someone copies the tool, chances are pretty high that we wont allow it to be advertised on this site either, out of respect for the originators of the product.  In this instance, it comes down to the reputation and integrity of the board, and the people who administer and moderate it.

I'm really sorry didn't mean to step on any toes. I just posted the ebay link because drilling and learning to turn the acrylic can be a pain . Just wanted to  help out in the process. Then I got alittle carried away  when asked about the other stuff.  As far as the ringer tool i got the idea from watching a video were they we making some aluminum pans  were  he was rolling the edges. So i made a small too to roll one side at a time . I had never seen the other style till the other day that rolls both sides.   Again sorry for the confusion.
