Stabilized Wood for sale
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:37:05 PM »
I sent a LARGE order off to WSSI. Got .75% of it last week and I will never be able to use it all so I'm posting up a small bit of here. These are WSSI stabilized spalted Pecan, Ash and Hackberry. I sorted through my best stock to send it off. Some are natural, some are gold, and all the Ash is green.
Top left is 6 gold pecan, then the 3 ash in green.
Bottom left is 3 gold hackberry, then 5 natural hackberry.
The ash doesn't look spalted, but it very much is.

They are all at or over 3 3/8, they shrunk more than I thought they would. All of these blanks are solid and I'm sure each one will make an impressive call or call barrel.

I added pic of a gold hackberry rough turned and very quickly polished. Color, on my my PC is prety accurate.

I wish I could trade them for wood or calls, but it's not cheap to have this stuff stabilized so I'm hoping to recover some of the cost here.
I'd like to get 12.00/each. Shipping would be $4.80 for 1 to 6 blanks.
PM for questions.

Thanks

Dang it.... I wish I had not gone to woodcrafters this morning. I spent my wood money there. I would love to get a couple from you but cant until I make a little more money.  Great looking blocks you got you should not have a problem selling those.

Forgive my ignorance, but does 'solid' mean dense too?

Those all look GREAT.

By solid I mean no voids or checking and very dense/heavy. The WSSI process impregnates the wood with acrylic. 100% penetration , color and acrylic. I added a rough turned and quickly polished example to the original post.

All three pics are the same blank.

  Okay.  I'd like to have the one second from the top left, and then one of the green ones with the most color changes in it.  You can PM me with your mailing address for a check, or paypal information.

THANKS!

Good looking stuff Richard.

I can't wait to see some calls made out of it!

You won't get money rich in this hobby.  The richness is in the culture, the craft, the friends you meet along the way, and being able to call in a wary game animal with a call that you made with your own hands.

If it's 100% stabilized is the mold in the wood still dangerous if inhaled? I turn in my basement so I've stayed away from spalted woods thus far. If I do turn any it's usually in the summer outside.

:2up:  If this stuff keeps selling 'this fast' I'm going to end up having an opportunity to get more after I turn these two!   :pot:

Good question, I would take the necessary precautions turning any wood in a confined space.

STOP WORK ORDER !

Turns out parkers blanks had cracks and were unusable. I'm going stop shipping and turn them all round so I can inspect them much better before shipping any more. I don't know if it was just his luck, or if I have a mess of bad blanks or what ? More when I have it.

Parker, thanks for the heads up via a PM.
