Posting some pictures for Curtis
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:05:46 PM »
Curtis said he was having problems posting pictures, so I told him I'd try and get it done for him. Hopefully, I get this right. He can come on later and correct any mistakes I make. Here is the information regarding the dowels that he sent me. He told me these are SpectraPly and here is a description directly from his web site.

SpectraPly™ is a dense, high performance laminate product that has the beauty and warmth of wood, but in a more durable, water-resistant form. SpectraPly™ products are exceptionally easy to machine, allowing them to be used in a wide variety of applications by manufacturers, craftspeople, and hobbyists.

I have all of these pictured in 1.55-1.60” diameter dowels x 35” lengths (they are $17.00 each plus freight cost) The colors are truly deep and dynamic. I have approx. 200 dowels of each color currently in stock. I have 286 panels of DymaLux that should be here within the next few weeks.

Here are the pictues, and I hope I have the names correct for each picture. The name will be ABOVE the picture for the wood.

Applejack

Green Mountain Camo

Camo Supreme

Charcoal

OrangeBlackBrown

BrownBlack

Desert Mountain Camo

Royal Jacaranda

Purple Black

Pink Lady

Southwest

Yellowjacket

Nutmeg Brown

Camo Extreme

:thanks: Thanks Braz.....That was a pretty stupid question I had there! Things run together in my brain on this site and I get lost sometimes :stuart:

After seeing those pictures I think I just now realized that it was about time I try some of that material!

Thanks Again

I ordered several dowels of the SpectraPly and received them within a short time.  I haven't yet been able to get them on the lathe but they sure look and feel great.  Curtis threw in several extra dowels 1 1/2" X 5" for me to try in colors I hadn't ordered.  He was a pleasure to deal with and very generous.  I can't wait to start turning this stuff!
