Shipping to Singapore?
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:48:14 PM »
Anybody ever done it? I have a guy asking about a call and wants me to ship to Singapore. Curious as to what all would need to be done? Customs/Ins?

:up1:  It would sure be cool to say you've got a call over there.

If it were me doing it, I would go to the local Post Office and ask them. I would expect they should know the answer. And as Parker said, that will be cool if you do it.

If your shipping to a business you`ll need a shipping invoice listing what`s in the package, and the cost of the product for customs and tax purposes.  If your sending to a "friend" then you can send it international through the post office with no problem sir.  Just like sending cookies to your kids in college.  As for insurance....I`d have it on the package.  Those guys over there don`t care to much for taking care of stuff like our shippers do.
Singapore...BEAUTIF UL CITY!!!!!  Super nice people

I would go to the post office and see what they say you will need.   I believe you will need a customs form regardless.   There are two different ones so ask then and they can help you out.  Please be honest when you fill out the customs form.  Marking Gift is not a great idea as it could come back to haunt you later on.

If you are going to use PayPal, keep in mind that there are international money transfer fees associated with payments from other countries and that could be a bit more than the regular PayPal fee.   Something to keep in mind in your pricing.

Also, tracking your package with the post office is difficult unless you send it Express Mail which is very expensive.   Express Mail is the only way you can prove delivery (through the post office) and avoid or be able to protest charge backs or non receipt of item claims.   Remember with PayPal, unless you can show on line proof of delivery, the customer always wins and you get charged back.

If you are shipping to an APO or FPO for a service member in an other country, it is the same as shipping to a US Address.  You might need a customs form, but it is a lot easier and you wont have the international money fees.   I can't remember if you can track priority mail packages to APO or FPO addresses so you should check that out before you commit to sending it that way.

Hope that helps some.

Didn't know about the extra fee's from paypal. I'll have to look into that. From his name I'm pretty sure it's not going to a base of ours! He requested shipping to be by ups or fedex. I also didn't know about the proof of shipping! I'm sure glad I asked!  :thanks:

If payment is made through PayPal, it will end up in your paypal account as US Funds.   PayPal however charges a fee to exchange the money however.

UPS or Fed Ex might be your best bet because you should be able to track them on line.    That is the key if you are shipping out of the US and using PayPal or accepting a Credit Card.    Without proof of delivery, you WILL lose every case of non delivery brought against you.    And - and this is a big one - they get you for EVERYTHING including the shipping.   If it comes through PayPal, and you have a bank account linked to your paypal account, if there is not enough money in your paypal account, they WILL go into your personal bank account and withdraw the funds.   Oh -   they tell you AFTER the fact also.    So the money is gone, and THEN you get an E mail letting you know.

Ever wonder why I dont ship out of the US?   Now you know.

The shipping aspect of this thead is interesting enough!  Very cool to have a request from Singapore. My question is "What the hell do they have to hunt in Singapore"?

Oh yeah!  I've seen his stuff. Top shelf for sure.  It would be interesting to know if there was something to hunt over there?  I'm gonna break down one day and get a predator call for my collection.  Wouldn't know what to do with one but I'd like to have one.

No idea on pay pal issues.

On the shipping I would use the post office, all you have to do is fill out a customs declaration form.  Nothing to I have shipped packages to Africa, Europe, Russia, the Far East and Australia.  No problems at all.  I found international money orders easy to deal with.

Well after what Al mentioned I believe tracking is a must! It does kind of worry me to have to jump through all these hoops though.

Thanks for the comments on my calls guys! I can't figure out how this guy even found my site. (It's just a homepage from att)  I was curious as to what he'd hunt to Mutt!
