Looking for some osage
« on: April 21, 2008, 02:44:51 PM »
Hey all,

I am looking to buy a flat rate of osage for some duck calls I'm donating to a program for a local youth contest calling. If anyone can turn me on to a good source thats on the cheap side, I would really appriciate it. I sponsored a call for every kid under the age of 18 that participated in the calling seminars, and competed in the state calling contest. Right now I have over a dozen kids in the program and still growing. PM me if you can help out. Thanks in advance.

Bob,

I got a flat rate box of some osage from Selmadogdoc over at CCO.  It's some pretty good osage.

How was his wood, was it pretty dry? What kind of figure did it have?

Braz,

The post I did about flame burning the hedge was a peice of osage that I got from Lee.  There were also some other blanks in the box that had tighter grain.  He kiln dries the wood that he sells.  As far as any figure, I have never really seen any "figured" osage, either in the box I got from him or from any of the other places I have gotten osage from.  All of the osage I have seen has been pretty much straight grained.

Well that piece you flamed was sure a nice piece. I may have to contact him. I have gotten wood from him before, but it was a long time ago.
