Moisture Meters
« on: April 07, 2008, 11:41:21 PM »
I just bought a moisture meter, nothing to fancy just wanted to make sure the wood I use won't shrink up and crack on anyone. (Had a major dissaster in my furniture making days  :P I hate warantee work). I read several reviews on it and for my price range it looked pretty good. Only problem I like, and have quite a bit of osage orange guess what is not on the group list. It came with 2 group lists. One group has Koa, Poplar, Locust etc. The other group list has Cherry, Elm, Walnut, etc. does anyone know which group Osage Orange would be in?

One manual I just came across here on the internet said to use group 1 if its not listed.  Just said it won't be as accurate of a reading.

This list was LONG, and osage/hedge/bois de arc (or however you spell it, I call it hedge) are all not listed.

Here's the manual.  The unknown wood is on page 4, and the list of all woods is on page 7.  I hope this helps.  Others may have a better answer for you.
