I was wondering if anyone had a good place to buy some desert ironwood? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's about the best place around, but their stuff can get expensive.

I've bought some of their stuff before, but haven't turned any of it yet.  I'm waiting for that right opportunity to try it out.

I've actually looked at that site before...thought it was kind of high, then I found some others that were even higher. Is the quality pretty good (what you got)?

They have a few different grades of quality.  And you essentially get what you pay for.  Obviously the higher quality grades will cost a bit more.  I got the cheap stuff, just because I haven't ever tried the ironwood before and wouldn't be too dissapointed if I screwed up a blank.  The stuff I got is dry, and there isn't any wax on it at all.  It hasn't checked on me either. It has some decent figure to it, but not as much as the higher grades.  I bought it in September, and I usually let my wood acclimate a few months before I try to turn it.  So, it should be about ready to turn after the first of the year.  I also have a turkey trumpet from Dad's Custom Calls (Jerry White) that is made out of desert ironwood from this place.  That trumpet was made from a higher grade blank, and the figure is really amazing in it.

I've noticed that the wood prices at arizona iron wood increase a couple of dollars every 6 months to a year.  I'm not sure exactly when the price jumps.  But if you want to get some, sooner is better than later if you don't want to spend so much.
