.........whoever is the "wood hog" buying up all the wood on Ebay please give me a chance to a least win one post.  A while back you could clean up on wood, but now it's WAR, and it's not pretty.

Thanks

I do not understand why people bid two, three, four days ahead of an auction's close.  I bid in the last 15 seconds when I really want something, and not a minute before.  All they're doing is running the prices up with the other fools that do the same thing.  I hate ebay but I can't seem to avoid it.

Quick (semi-related) funny story.  A few years ago I saw that a local BBQ smoker manufacturer had their $1200+ smokers on ebay with a starting bid/reserve of $600.  I figured I'd call and ask if they were clearing an old model out of their inventory or what, and if they'd take $650 cash?  The owner of the company scoffed at me and said that I was welcome to bid on one of the smokers for $650, but plan on getting waaaaay outbid.  Days went by with no bids.  A few seconds before the close of the auction, there I was with a $601 bid.  Winner, winner, BBQ chicken dinner.  Picked up my smoker the same day.  The owner asked if I was the guy that called him earlier that week, grinning, albeit a little defeated.

That guy needed someone to run the price up for him on ebay, but I wasn't his guy!

...and you had an extra $49 to buy something to wash down that BBQ with

I use a web site http://justsnipe.com/ guys at the firehouse use this site a lot.

You must give them your ebay password though. I was not fond of this, but friends love this site. They have a free and a paid option. I only use the free one though. Here is how it works. You get to bid on 5 items a week for free.  You find a item you want to bid on. Copy the item number to the snipe auction. Put in your max $ amount. When the auction has 8 seconds left it places your bid.

On the paid side you can bid on unlimited items and it places your bid at 2 seconds left. Not sure of the $ for this service.

What I do is find the item I want to bid on. Place my max bid at just snipe only. There are times when you get some real good deals. Then there are times when the prices go wild and you are only out one of your 5 bids for that week.

Hope this will help give you another option.

Braz, that's a quote from the movie Tombstone....Doc Holliday was basically challenging a guy to a fast draw gunfight and said that.  I think Robert's eluding to the fact that the guy who's quickest on the button at the last second of an ebay auction wins.   :hunter1:
